2. Joseph Coleman² Sanborn (Simeon, #4);^12,13 born 14 Jun 1788 at Standish, ME;¹⁴ born 17 Jun 1788;¹⁵ married Lucy Verrill (see #3), daughter of Samuel Varrell Jr and Sarah Prince, 29 Jan 1823 at Minot, ME;^16,17 died 9 Sep 1856 at age 68.^18,19

According to Eleanor, the local frogs didn't make the usual garrump, garrump sound, but more something like Joe's-come, Joe's come. (Joe was an avid fisherman).²⁰ He was a farmer after 1823 at Bethel, ME.²¹

  She lived at South Byfield, Essex, MA.³²

• v. Jerome;^33,34 married Carrie Stevens; according to L. A. S; born 31 Mar 1837; married Emily E Holt circa 1860; according to Hisory of Bethel.³⁵

  He History of Bethel says married Emily E Holt, L A S says Carrie Stevens. Lived in Bethel ME, three children Fannie, married Eugene Prescott, Ada, Grace. Fond of the "Oh be joyful."³⁶ He ended military service in 1862 at Antietam Battlefield, Sharpsburg, MD; Lost his leg in Civil War. Brother George nursed him back to health.³⁷

3. Lucy² Verrill (Samuel Varrell, #6);^45,46 born 5 Aug 1779 at Poland, ME; V C Sanborn says Minot, ME. The birth date is wrong, if she is indeed the 12th child of Samuel, born 1757. Perhaps she was really the daughter of Samuel's father, also Samuel;^47,48,49,50 married Joseph Coleman Sanborn (see #2), son of Simeon Sanborn and Hannah Ward, 29 Jan 1823 at Minot, ME.^51,52
