Shubael5 Bouton (John, #12);121,122 born 29 Dec 1740 at Norwalk, CT;123 christened 21 Jun 1749 at Norwalk, CT; Records of St John Church, Stamford cited, lists christening date and parents John and Sarah Bouton;124 married Mary Hodge (see #11) 1766 at CT; probably before leaving CT. Some accounts say he married a Seymore, he may have had 2 wives;125 died after 1785 at Rensselaerville, NY.126
He began military service at Westchester, NY, Revolutionary war service, 4th Regiment of Westchester Militia, later 2nd Regiment, both under Major Thaddeus Crane.127 He was "Regarded as a most ernest and consistent Christian of the Quaker sect." (this may refer to another Shubael, military service?). He was by trade a weaver, had ambition to be a farmer after 1760. He lived circa 1795 at Rensselaerville, NY, "moved early to Duchess County, later moved again and settled in Rensselaerville in 1795" (must refer to another Shubael, or I copied the date wrong- WAF).
